EuroMillions fans from all over the world can play for the biggest EuroMillions jackpot ever to be offered on Friday, July 8th 2022, after a record of €230 million was reached for the first time. This is also the current jackpot cap of the EuroMillions lottery.
How did the jackpot reach this amount?
A few factors contributed to this. Let’s take them one by one. But first grab your EuroMillions ticket so you know that you stand a chance to win this mouth-watering prize.
When the rules of the game were changed in February 2020, the jackpot cap was increased from €190 million to €200 million, while at the same time putting in place a mechanism to increase it by €10 million each time the previous cap is reached, until it reaches the maximum threshold of €250 million.
These changes brought an amazing year 2020 for EuroMillions. 2021 continued on the same line as well. In 2020 there were 4 EuroMillions SuperDraw events and a new record was reached when a €200 million jackpot was scooped by a French player. While in 2021, there were also 4 SuperDraws, it offered an amazing record jackpot of €220 million scooped in October 2021.
Can the jackpot grow any further?
No! The current EuroMillions jackpot cap stands at €230 million, so the prize cannot continue to grow beyond this threshold. Now that the cap was reached, the jackpot can still roll over for four more draws, but it cannot increase in value.
The good news does not stop here! As the €230 million cap was reached, EuroMillions will have a new cap of €240 million with chances to display even bigger jackpots in the future.
