The European Millionaire Maker special draw has its origins in the UK Millionaire Maker raffle. The latter accompanies the biweekly EuroMillions draws and offers £1 million to those who match the winning codes on tickets purchased in the UK.
The European Millionaire Maker raffle was announced for the first time together with a host of rule changes to the EuroMillions lottery that took effect in September 2016. The European Millionaire Maker raffle was supposed to happen several times per year, but so far there were only a few editions of these highly anticipated event
The first-ever EuroMillions pan-European raffle, the European Millionaire Maker, made its debut on Friday, October 28th, 2016 with 25 raffle prizes for twenty-five lucky players. The second pan-European raffle event was held on February 23rd, 2018. During this second edition, 25 winning codes were drawn.
After a four-year break, the following event, on January 21st, 2022 made no less than 100 winners from all participating countries. The upcoming European Millionaire Maker event will make 100 winners as well.
So, besides the EuroMillions jackpot displayed for the draw on February 3rd, 2022, you stand 100 chances of winning €1 million or £1 million.
The currency of the raffle prize depends on the country where your EuroMillions ticket is purchased. Tickets purchased in the UK will get £1 million. Whatever €1 million converts to in pounds on the day of the draw, Camelot tops up all the winning amounts from their own funds so that every lucky ticket holder becomes a millionaire. In Switzerland, in exchange, the €1 million is converted into Swiss Francs. This means that tickets purchased in Switzerland and the UK stand to win more than €1 million. For instance, on February 23rd 2018, a €1 million raffle prize translated into CHF 1,150,960 for a Swiss winner.
How Does the European Millionaire Maker Work?
It’s simple! When you purchase the EuroMillions ticket for the draw on January 21st, a randomly-generated raffle code is printed on your ticket. The code consists of four letters and five numbers. The first letter of the code depends on the country where the ticket is purchased.
